Security at 220 stops man choking customer

A man reported to Birmingham police that another man started a verbal skirmish at 220, which ended up with the man choking him until security stepped in on Wednesday, November 22.

The man told officers that as he was getting ready to leave the 220 establishment, located at 220 E. Merrill Street in Birmingham, a man came up to him and started a verbal fight, saying he was looking at his girlfriend. The aggressor then grabbed the victim, putting two hands around his neck, choking him for approximately five to 10 seconds until security at the restaurant stepped in.

The suspect is described as 5-feet 11-inches tall, 200 pounds, approximately 50 years old, with a dark beard. He was wearing a dark colored suit.

Birmingham police are investigating.
