Businesses receive false bomb threats

Bloomfield Township police sent out an alert on Thursday, December 13, that they had been made aware of several reports from businesses across the nation of bomb threats received via email requesting $20,000 in bitcoin.

The emails stated that if emergency services were sent, the bomb would be detonated.

At this time, Bloomfield Township police and law enforcement around the country have found absolutely no credibility to any of the threats.

According to reports, there were dozens of these bomb threats sent to businesses, government buildings, schools and news outlets across the country. Buildings in Michigan, Oklahoma, Illinois, Idaho, and Utah were among those that were evacuated after receiving email threats. In Detroit, the Guardian Building and Frank Murphy Hall of Justice were both evacuated, but nothing was found. In New York City, the New York Police Department said it had received “multiple bomb threats that have been sent electronically to various locations.”

They said several of the threats had been investigated and no devices had been found.
