$2,000 Apple purchase flags theft at gym

A man working out at the LifeTime Fitness gym in Bloomfield Township on Tuesday, November 20, received a text message from his credit card company regarding a $2,000 purchase, and he soon learned someone had entered his gym locker, stolen credit cards out of his wallet and was using them at Somerset Mall. The man reported the incident to Bloomfield Township police around 1:15 p.m., when officers arrived to LifeTime Fitness, 4106 Telegraph Road. The victim informed officers he had been working out when he received a text message from his credit card company regarding his recent $2,000 purchase at the Apple Store in Somerset Mall. As he was working out, he knew that he had not made the purchase, and realized someone had manipulated his combination lock, entered his locker and stolen several credit cards out of his wallet. Video surveillance from the Apple store shows a white man wearing a cap using one of the stolen credit cards. Bloomfield Township Police currently has the case under investigation.
