Officer stops theft at Shain Park

A Birmingham police officer on Thursday, December 27, stopped three intoxicated teens who were attempting to steal items from Shain Park in downtown Birmingham, police said.

Police said the officer saw three men,who appeared to have something protruding under their jackets, leaving the park near Henrietta and Merrill The officer approached the men and discovered they had taken the yarn blankets from the granite balls in the park.

The men, all 19, from Bloomfield Hills, Birmingham and Pontiac, were all found to be intoxicated.

The men were cited for larceny and minor in possession of alcohol.
