Driver arrested for gun violation

A Detroit man stopped by Bloomfield Township police on Tuesday, January 29, for an alleged license plate violation while driving on Telegraph near Square Lake Road, was arrested in connection with carrying a concealed handgun.

Police said Brandon Christopher Colvin was driving about 3:45 p.m. when he was pulled over for an improper license plate. After conducting a roadside investigation, the officer determined Colvin was wanted for an unrelated, outstanding misdemeanor warrant. During the arrest and search of the vehicle, an office found a loaded handgun in the vehicle's glovebox.

The case was presented to the Oakland County Prosecutors Office and Colvin was charged with one count of carrying a concealed weapon. He was arraigned on Wednesday, January 30, in Oakland County 48th District Court in Bloomfield Township before Magistrate Julie Nelson-Klein, who set bond at $7,500 or 10-percent surety bond.

The Oakland County Circuit Court will schedule Colvin's next court appearance.
