Thieves steal clothing delivery off porch
Police in Bloomfield Township are warning the public about porch pirates following a recent theft of clothing from a local resident's porch.
Police responded about 1 p.m. on Tuesday, January 29, to the report of a larceny of mail complaint from a resident in the 4900 block of Haddington in Bloomfield Township. Police said the man was expecting a delivery from Amazon, but never received it.
The resident filed a complaint with the post office and was advised of the date and time the package was delivered. The man determined the package, an $84 pair of jeans, was stolen from his mailbox.
Police are asking anyone with information about the theft to contact the Bloomfield Township Police Department at 248.433.7755.
The department recommends residents take advantage of special delivery notifications when having packages delivered.
“With online shopping becoming extremely popular, the Bloomfield Township Police Department encourages our residents to use delivery notification services,” the department said in a release. “The United States Postal Service offers 'Informed Delivery,' FedEx offers 'Delivery Manager,' UPS offers 'My Choice' and Amazon offers multiple options for delivery notifications. Using one of these services may protect you from becoming a victim.”
