Men arrested in gym thefts
Two 19-year-old men were arrested on Friday, February 15, by Bloomfield Township police in connection with theft and credit card fraud stemming from a series of thefts at several gym locker rooms in the area, police said.
Bloomfield Township police said the investigation included the Troy Special Investigations Unit, which together said the men were observed stealing personal items from multiple LA Fitness locations, including the Bloomfield Township location at 2050 Telegraph Road. Police said the items were stolen from unsecured lockers in the men's locker rooms.
Investigators said the men were stopped after going to an area Game Stop store where they attempted to purchase a gaming console with a stolen credit card. Officers interrupted the transaction and both men were arrested.
The men were identified as Tyree Charles Parker, 19, of Ferndale, and Javon Maurice Kinnard, 19, of Detroit. The men were arraigned on Monday, February 18, in 48th District Court in Bloomfield Township on charges of larceny and credit card fraud. Both men were being held at the Oakland County Jail on $25,000 cash/surety bonds. Their next court appearance is scheduled for Monday, February 25 before Judge Kimberly Small at 48th District Court.
