Counterfeit bill leads to arrest of woman

A Waterford woman believed to have passed off a counterfeit bill at a Bloomfield Township McDonald's restaurant was arrested and charged in connection with the theft, police said.

Airyana Marcias, 25, was charged with one count of larceny in 48th District Court.

Police said the initial report occurred about 10:30 a.m. on January 10, when officers spoke with a manager at the McDonald's, 2209 Telegraph Road, who said a woman driving a blue Ford Flex had passed a counterfeit $20 bill the day before. Police said the same woman returned the following day and tried to pass another bill, but was recognized by an employee and turned away.

Police conducted an investigation that ultimately led to Marcias' arrest.
