Township sewer work to begin in April

March 29, 2019

Work to replace sanitary sewer lines crossing Woodward Avenue at Square Lake Road is expected to begin in mid-April, with slight disruptions to traffic in the area anticipated.

The Bloomfield Township Board of Trustees on Monday, March 25, unanimously approved a $662,580 million contract with Bidigare Contractors to conduct the work. The project will utilize an underground boring method, rather than an open cut that would require cutting open surface concrete to replace the lines.

Olivia Olsztyn-Budry, director of township engineering services, said the underground boring method reduces disruptions to motorists and nearby businesses. The project is expected to run from mid-April to about Memorial Day, weather permitting.

The total cost of the project, which includes contingency costs, is estimated at $728,838. The board unanimously approved the contract.
