Telegraph Road construction to begin Monday
If it's spring, it's time for orange barrels, and Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is complying, completing reconstruction work on Telegraph Road begun last fall but not completed. Beginning the week of April 1, the two outside lanes of northbound and southbound Telegraph Road between Long Lake and Square Lake roads will be closed starting at 6 a.m. Wednesday, April 3. MDOT said the closure is expected to last until April 20, weather depending. Completion of concrete milling and asphalt overlay in the intersection of Maple and Telegraph, begun in fall 2018, will be completed this spring, in addition to the restoration and irrigation repairs. MDOT said the Telegraph Road reconstruction project consists of concrete milling, HMA overlay, joint and crack repair, curb and gutter repair, drainage structure repair, and pavement markings. Double lane closures will occur continuously during the project, with triple land closures occuring on weekend nights. Paving will be performed during weeknight and weekend closures. In addition, MDOT said, due to the road construction, safety path crossings at Telegraph and Hickory Grove roads, Telegraph and Long Lake roads, and Telegraph and Maple roads will be closed during the construction periods.
