Free run with hops, Moms on move returns

Now that the snow has melted and spring seems to have (hopefully) arrived, it's time to go outside and get moving. To help motivate you, Gazelle Sports in Birmingham is hosting Herd & Hops on Thursday, April 11, a free community run that ends at Griffin Claw Brewery Company, and on Wednesday, April 17, its popular Moms on the Move run/walk with strollers returns.

Herd & Hops is a new, free community fun run through the streets of Birmingham, with distance options for one, three and five mile runs beginning at 6:30 p.m. beginning at Gazelle Sports Birmingham, 99 W. Maple Road. Following the group run, everyone is invited for a meet up at Griffin Claw Brewery Company, 575 S. Eton Road, in Birmingham.

Everyone participating will receive a complimentary drink token, as well as a chance to win prizes from Moosejaw and Gazelle Sports. In addition, Garmin will have demonstrations watches on hand for runners to test drive and track their run.

Gazelle said Herd & Hops is the first in a series of fun, supportive runs from Gazelle Sports Birmingham designed to bring together individual runners and walkers throughout the community.

There is no fee and no registration is required.

On Thursday, April 17, at 9:30 a.m., “Moms on the Move,” a weekly run/walk will return as its kickoff Spring Stroll event. Pop your child in their stroller and join other moms on a three-mile route that will include special stops at local fitness studios, The Dailey Method and Born Yoga, where the little ones will get to hunt for Easter eggs, followed by a light picnic at Shain Park immediately after the run. The event is stroller-friendly, dads are of course included, and all fitness levels are welcome for this free, no registration required event, which starts and ends at Gazelle.
