Wallet stolen from unattended purse

Birmingham police are investigating the apparent theft of a wallet that was left inside an unattended purse on Saturday, April 20, in the parking lot of a local grocery store.

Police responded about noon to the report of a theft in the parking lot of Whole Foods Market, 2100 E. Maple Road, Birmingham. The victim told officers she had set her purse down near the trash next to the entrance off of Maple Road and forgot to grab it when she walked to her car.

She returned a short time later and learned someone turned the purse into customer service. When she recovered the purse, the wallet was missing.

Birmingham police are investigating.
