East side man arrested in auto parts scam

A Grosse Pointe Farms man was arraigned on Wednesday, May 22, for larceny by false pretenses in connection with the sale of antique auto parts that a Bloomfield Township man said he never received. Bloomfield Township police said the case started in January when officers responded to the 4000 block of Squirrel Road for a fraud complaint. The resident told police he was purchasing about $2,800 in antique auto parts from the suspect, who was identified as Jeremy Bartley Birmingham, 33, of Grosse Pointe Farms. The victim told police payment was delivered to the suspect, but the auto parts weren't. After a thorough investigation, detectives obtained a warrant for the suspect. He was arraigned in 48th District Court before Magistrate Julie Nelson-Klein, who set bond at $20,000. He is scheduled to appear on June 4 before Judge Diane D'Agostini at 48th District Court.
