Man takes Specialized bicycle

A woman who had left her black and dark pink Specialized bike in a bike rack at Maple and Peabody roads in downtown Birmingham on Tuesday, June 4, returned to discover it had been stolen.

The woman told police that her bike, from Specialized Bicycle Components, commonly called Specialized and costing from $2,500 to over $10,000, was black and dark pink with a chrome bell on the handlebars, miscellaneous stickers strewn across the entire bike, and pink flowers on the handlebars.

A witness told Birmingham police they saw a man take the bike. He was described as African American with a slim build, wearing baggy black clothings and a black beanie style hat with an orange brim.

Birmingham police are investigating.
