Bloomfield Hills man dies in car mishap

A Bloomfield Hills man died on Sunday, June 30, from injuries sustained when his vehicle struck a tree on Hickory Grove Road, west of Lahser Road. Bloomfield Township police said Phillip Michael Knoll, 36, was driving west on Hickory Grove about 8:58 a.m. when his 2016 Jeep crossed the center line, ran off the road and struck a tree. Knoll died at the scene. The accident is under investigation. Police said it wasn't yet determined if alcohol or speed was a factor in the crash. The Bloomfield Township Traffic Investigation Unit is leading the investigation with the assistance of the Southwest Oakland County Crash Investigations Team.
