Police investigate theft from local mailbox

Police are investigating the theft of a package from a Bloomfield Township resident's mailbox sometime on or about Saturday, July 6, in the 700 block of Oakleigh Drive. Bloomfield Township police said the victim notified the department on the morning of Thursday, July 11, that a package had been stolen from her mailbox. The victim said the post office was contacted, which confirmed the package had been delivered the previous Saturday. Investigators with the Bloomfield Township Police Department are coordinating with U.S. Postal Inspectors and the FBI's Financial Crimes and Identity Theft Task Force as the investigation continues. Police ask residents to report any suspicious vehicles or people seen looking into residential mailboxes. Investigators ask anyone with information about the theft to contact the Bloomfield Township Police Department at 248.433.7755.
