Thieves enter nine unlocked cars in township
Bloomfield Township police are investigating a series of thefts from vehicles that occurred overnight on Thursday, July 11, in the area southeast of Opdyke Road and South Boulevard. Officers responded on July 11 to a home in the 2000 block of Bootmaker Lane for a complaint involving a theft from a vehicle. Police said the victim's purse was found in the street by a neighbor. During the course of the investigation, the Bloomfield Township Police Department received several other calls about thefts from unlocked vehicles in the 500 block of Spinningwheel Drive, and the general neighboring area. All of the complaints involved unlocked vehicles. Police said a total of nine vehicles were targeted by thieves. Investigators said on Monday, July 15, that they were in the process of recovering videos from home surveillance cameras.
