Burglar alarm wakes Birmingham resident

Homeowners were upstairs sleeping in their home in the 1200 block of Villa in Birmingham on the evening of Thursday, January 2, when they were woken by their burglar alarm. Checking the home, the victims told police they found the back door to the house slightly open and a window with the screen sitting inside the home. Police said fresh footprints were found in the dirt under the window and throughout the kitchen. Inside the house, a purse was missing. Outside, police said they found a pair of pruning scissors on the outdoor generator and several exposed wires. A landline phone and rear motion sensor were also disabled. Birmingham police are investigating the incident.
