Thief steals from Target, tries to return goods

Employees at the Bloomfield Township Target store reported to police that a man tried to do a bait and switch by attempting to return items he had stolen from the store for cash on Tuesday, September 8. Loss prevention officers at Target, 2400 Telegraph Road, reported to Bloomfield Township police that a white male had entered the store with stolen merchandise and attempted to return it for cash. Loss prevention officers recognized the suspect as the individual who was wanted in over 30 retail frauds in local area Target stores. After spotting the man, Target loss prevention officers followed the suspect throughout the store and witnessed him switching price tags from a higher price to a lower one. He then used the self-checkout line to purchase the altered merchandise and left the store, where he got into a black GMC Terrain SUV and left. Detectives positively identified the man, who later admitted to them to altering the price tags. A warrant request for retail fraud was presented to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
