Resident breaks items, sets off fire alarm

A resident living in the 555 S. Old Woodward building damaged some items and then activated the fire alarm before taking off in the middle of the night on Monday, October 26, the building manager told Birmingham police. When officers arrived, the property manager on site at the residences at 555 S. Old Woodward informed them a table lamp and painting had been damaged. A witnessed reported a 33-year-old resident had knocked over the lamp and removed a picture from the wall around 3:16 a.m. He then proceeded to activate the building's fire alarm at 3:20 a.m., and took off before the Birmingham Fire Department arrived to the scene. Birmingham police are investigating.
