Arrest made after banked notices fraudulent check

After an individual attempted to cash a fraudulent check made out to himself on Friday, September 9, Birmingham police officers were dispatched to First Merchants Bank, located 1712 West Maple Road, where they arrested him.

The client on the check stated he did not know or issue a check to the individual attempting to cash it, leading officers to arrest the man for uttering and publishing check. The next day, the police department received a call from a resident who claimed she found numerous checks outside of her residence.

Officers determined the checks found came from various companies and were made out to the same individual attempting to cash the fraudulent check at First Merchants Bank, however, none of the checks were endorsed.
