A North Carolina man was arrested in the early morning hours of Wednesday, July 8, after he allegedly assaulted a woman during an incident at a Birmingham bar near N. Bates Street and Willits Street.

Birmingham police officers reported that the man had claimed bar employees stole his credit card and grew agitated, which led the woman to start recording the incident on her phone. She said that while she was recording, the man hit the phone out of her hand and damaged it before leaving the bar.

Officers reported later finding the man and placing him under arrest, and the credit card in question was found in his pocket.
