Assault takes place near Ravine-Old Woodward

Birmingham police are investigating the assault and battery of three people who say they were jumped by at least 10 others while walking near Ravine and Old Woodward in Birmingham around 1 a.m. on Sunday, January 16.


Police responded about 2 a.m. to the area for the report of an assault. Officers said three victims said they were walking in the area when a few vehicles pulled up next to them, and one of the passengers accused the victims of throwing pebbles at one of the vehicles. The victims said about 10 men and women exited the vehicles and started attacking them.


All three victims were struck multiple times in the face.


The vehicles, described as a white Ford Taurus, black Ram, and white Dodge Durango, were last seen heading north on N. Old Woodward from Ravine.


Birmingham police are investigating.
