Attempt at prying open door led to fire alarm

A Birmingham police officer was dispatched to the 333 Park Street parking structure on Thursday, December 22, on a report of property damage.

When the officer arrived at the scene, the Birmingham Fire Department was also on location because of a fire alarm.

Officers determined there was damage to the door latch guard on the door on the top floor at the southwest corner of the structure, which appeared to have been caused by a prying tool. It seems a fire alarm was triggered by the attempt to pry open the door.

Birmingham police report there are currently no witnesses or suspects.
