Bicycles stolen at Birmingham locations

Two bicycles were reported stolen on two different days from two different locations in downtown Birmingham, police said.

The first theft was reported to Birmingham police on Friday, October 1, when the victim parked her bike at the Peabody Street parking structure, police said.

Officers responded about 8 p.m. to the structure where the victim said she left her bicycle unlocked against the outside railing of the structure. The victim told officers she parked the bike about 3 p.m. and returned about 7 p.m. to find the bike missing. The loss was estimated at $600.

Police responded the following day to a second theft outside of the Birmingham Public Library, 300 W. Merrill. Police said the victim locked his bicycle in front of the building about 5 p.m., and returned about 10 p.m. to discover it missing. The bicycle was valued at $1,000.

Birmingham police are investigating.
