Birmingham home cleaner cashes stolen check

:

A Warren woman is being investigated by Birmingham police after a stolen check from a home she cleaned in early December on the 100 block of Willits was cashed in her name on Friday, January 17, for $5,000.

The victim reported to Birmingham police that the stolen check was taken directly from his checkbook, and the person who cashed it had forged his signature. The check was written out to one of the women the victim had hired to clean his home the previous month.

Birmingham police say an investigation is ongoing.
