Birmingham Hometown Parade this Sunday

The annual Celebrate Birmingham Hometown Parade will march through town this Sunday, May 17, at 1 p.m., followed by a free, family-friendly party in Shain Park.
The parade will begin on North Old Woodward near Booth Park, travel south to Maple Road, then west along Maple, south on Henrietta Street, west on Martin Street and finally south on Bates Street before ending in the park.
The parade will feature 40 community organizations, elected officials, performers and local businesses. Highlights will include fire and police vehicles, public services trucks, unicyclists from the Redford Township Unicycle Club, the Oakland County Sheriff's Office mounted unit, scout troops and dance companies, Baldwin Public Library, the Birmingham Museum and many others.
After the parade there will be a party in Shain Park for free fun until 4 p.m., including face painting, mini train rides, a bounce house, photo ops with Bluey and Minnie and Mickey Mouse, hands-on crafts, games and much more.
Free parking is available in the city's municipal parking structures at 333 North Old Woodward Avenue, 180 South Chester Street or 333 Pierce Street.
Presenting sponsors of the parade are the Bank of Ann Arbor and Bloom Pediatrics, and grandstand sponsors are Mills Pharmacy & Apothecary and Planning Alternatives.
