Birmingham man assaulted at local bar

A Birmingham man who was at a bar in the 200 block of E. Merrill Street in Birmingham said he had been assaulted there, and filed an assault complaint at the Birmingham Police Station on Monday, August 26, around 4 p.m.


The 57-year-old victim explained that he was at the bar over a couple of nights. One night, a 28-year-old male from Rochester Hills bumped into a female standing near the door and began to yell at the woman. The victim asked the suspect to calm down and the suspect punched him in the face.


Birmingham police report an investigation is ongoing.
