Birmingham man falls victim to alleged extortion

A 22-year-old Birmingham man reported to police he had become the victim of extortion after he sent nude photos to a woman he met online.

The man, currently visiting from France, reported to Birmingham police that he sent the pictures to the woman, who then began threatening to share the photos if he didn’t send her money. According to police, he received numerous calls from an unknown male with “a heavy foreign accent” from the woman’s online account asking for money.

Birmingham police state that an investigation into the incident is currently ongoing.
