Birmingham man swindled in crypto swindle

A 26-year-old male victim from the 1000 Grant Avenue area filed a fraud report at the Birmingham Police lobby on Monday, August 26, at 1 a.m., stating that he had met an unknown woman online and discussed crypto investments.

The female suspect informed the victim about a man who works in the business and could give him investment tips. The unknown male suspect recommended to the victim to open an account and start investing and after depositing money to do so, the victim was unable to withdraw the money.

An investigation is ongoing.
