Birmingham shoplifter driving U-Haul arrested

A suspect driving a U-Haul truck who was on Rochester police's radar was arrested after stealing from a downtown Birmingham store on Sunday, September 15.

Birmingham police were first notified by Rochester Hills Police around 5 p.m. to be on the lookout for a suspicious person driving a U-Haul. Using their drone, Birmingham police found the vehicle and were then notified of a retail fraud in progress in the 100 block of South Old Woodward.

The suspect fled the scene. Staff members of the store informed police that a 55-year-old Pontiac female suspect had entered the store and placed several clothing items in her bag. She then exited quickly without paying.

The suspect was quickly apprehended and an investigation is ongoing.
