A site plan and special land use request for a soccer field to be added to the campus of Bloomfield Christian School, 3600 Telegraph Road, in Bloomfield Township was unanimously approved by the township board of trustees on Monday, June 28.
Since 2013, Bloomfield Christian School has shared a portion of the building and property of Bloomfield Hills Baptist Church on the west side of Telegraph, north of Long Lake Road. Bloomfielkd Township Director of Planning, Building and Ordinance Patti Voelker said the property does abut residential properties, and at the township's planning commission meeting on May 19, the school agreed to a provision that there would be no games before 8 a.m. on school days nor before 9 a.m. on Saturdays or Sundays, and there would be an 8 p.m. stop on all days.
She said the addition of the 50 yard by 80 yard soccer field, on the property's northwest corner, would not alter or impact the traffic circulation pattern, nor have any impact on parking.
Treasurer Brian Kepes supported the soccer field with an added provision that were would be no lighting added to the field or property. Trustees concurred, voting 7-0 to approve.
