The City of Birmingham has canceled its annual BRRmingham Blast event scheduled for tomorrow, (Saturday, January 24) due to extreme cold temperatures forecast for the area.

The Birmingham Shopping District, sponsor of the winter event that was to include a zip-line in the downtown area, along with other outdoor events, sent out the announcement a couple of days ago. The announcement also noted that planned street closures for the event have also been canceled.

Weather forecasts for Saturday predict a high temperature of six degrees with a low of nine degrees below zero and much colder when wind chill is considered.
