Burglary attempt leaves home with broken door

A Birmingham resident living in the 400 block of Harmon reported the window on her storm door had been broken, and police determined someone broke it trying to break in.

On Friday, September 16, a Birmingham police officer was dispatched the home on Hamon, where the resident, a 79-year old female, told officers that she had heard a loud noise between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. that morning. Officers reported that the door had several locks, some of which remained out of reach despite the broken glass panes on the door.

The estimated cost to repair the door is around $2,500.

Birmingham police state there are no additional witnesses or suspects at this time.
