Business scammed of thousands in lotto tickets

A Birmingham business owner at the 1000 block of E. Maple Road was reportedly scammed out of $3,522 in September after his credit card company said a customer’s cards had been declined.

The business owner reported the incident to Birmingham police on Tuesday, October 10, telling police that his credit card company didn’t inform him until a few weeks after the purchase about the decline. He told police that the purchase was made by a suspect who bought over $3,000 worth of scratch off lottery tickets using different credit cards.

Birmingham police report an investigation is ongoing.
