Cause unknown for Bloomfield Hills garage fire

On Thursday, August 17, the Bloomfield Hills Public Safety Department put out a house fire that was contained to the garage after receiving multiple reports from neighbors.

Several witnesses reported the fire, which was coming from a building in the 1600 block of Rathmor Road, and there were no injuries to civilians as no one was home at the time of the fire, nor to fire personnel.

The fire was contained to the garage of the home and extinguished by fire personnel upon their arrival.

Several neighbors near the residence reported the fire to the Bloomfield Hills Public Safety Department, noting that they saw lightning in the area immediately before the incident.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.

The Troy Fire Department, Bloomfield Township Fire Department, Berkley Department of Public Safety, and Star EMS assisted the Bloomfield Hills Public Safety Department with this incident.
