Cell phone, cards swiped off chair at The Morrie

A 31-year-old woman from Rochester reported to Birmingham police on Thursday, May 19, the theft of her cellphone at The Morrie on Saturday, May 14.


The woman reported had set her phone down while at The Morrie, 260 N. Old Woodward. She said she then saw a suspect, a 23-year-old male from Lauderhill, Florida, pick up the phone and leave the room with it. A witness reported to police they had also seen the suspect take the phone.


The suspect was later contacted and advised that he was seen taking the phone and asked to return it.


Upon returning the phone, the victim reported that the phone case, debit card and SIM card were all missing.


Birmingham police report an investigation is ongoing.
