Chaotic and intoxicated driver arrested
After quite a police chase – both by car and on foot – Bloomfield Township police took an intoxicated Bloomfield Hills resident into custody.
Justin Luark was issued a four-count warrant for flee and elude second degree, resisting and obstructing, operating while intoxicated, and no license, from the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office.
Bloomfield Township police were called around 12:50 a.m to be alerted of Luark, who was swerving all over Telegraph Road and running red lights. After police saw his white Toyota Tacoma approaching Square Lake Road at a high speed – over 100 m.p.h. – they turned on their emergency lights and sirens in hopes to stop Luark, who kept driving.
He ended up striking a curb near Humphrey Avenue, then proceeded to drive over the center median, then into a ditch, before ultimately crashing into a tree.
From there, the 31-year-old left his vehicle before police chased him and then took him into custody. He had a small baggie of pills suspected to be oxycodone in his vehicle, and took a blood alcohol test at the police station, with his sample at .153, much higher than Michigan’s legal rate of .08.
Luark was arraigned at the 52nd District Court and issued an $8,000 cash bond.
