City golf courses gear up for spring season start

The surest signs of spring are rainy days, daffodils poking up from the ground, and golfers getting ready to hit the links. Those who live and work in Birmingham can get an early start, as the city of Birmingham's municipal golf courses are prepping for opening, with Lincoln Hills Golf Course is scheduled to open on Friday, April 1, and Springdale Golf Course soon after, weather depending.

Lincoln Hills and Springdale golf courses are rated as two of the top golf courses in Oakland County. They both offer a nine-hole course that is picturesque, challenging and fun.

As in previous seasons, Lincoln Hills Golf Course will continue to offer its Junior Golf program this summer, from June 13 – August 4.. Golfers ages six to 16 can learn the fundamentals of golf and improve their skills through a variety of instruction options. Online registration begins Saturday, May 7. Residents and members may register starting at 9 a.m. and will receive special pricing until 11 a.m.

Registration opens at 11:30 a.m. to the public. Registration will remain open online until classes are filled. More information can be found by visiting golfbirmingham.org/junior-golf-program.

Additionally, Lincoln Hills will host two events this spring to kick off the season. The “Welcome Back Members” golf event will take place on Sunday, April 24, with tee times starting at 4 p.m. This event is $20 per person and includes golf in a two-person alternate shot format, with dinner and awards to follow. Celebrate Cinco de Mayo on Thursday, May 5, with the “Cinco de Mayo” golf event, starting at 6 p.m. This event is $39 per person and includes golf in a two-person alternate shot format, with awards, food stations and more to follow.

Adaptive golf carts are available at both courses

For more information on these events, contact the Lincoln Hills Clubhouse at 248.530.1670.

Upon opening, reservations may be made online or by calling Lincoln Hills at 248.530.1670 or Springdale at 248.530.1660. More information is available at golfbirmingham.org.
