City police respond to gunshots at party site

Birmingham police are reporting that on Saturday, April 11, they detained a number of persons for questioning after responding to 911 calls in the early morning hour about gunshots fired at what appears to be a party at a rental home on West Lincoln Street in the city.
Police report noted that at approximately 6:17 a.m. the city dispatch center received several 911 calls reporting gunshots being fired in the 1400 block of East Lincoln Street. Officers quickly arrived and located shell casings in the area, according to the department.
Officers were able to determine that a party at a rental home was advertised through social media. Witnesses stated they heard a verbal altercation, followed by multiple gunshots. Video footage from nearby residences confirmed numerous subjects fleeing from the home.
Officers located and detained one subject found to be in possession of a handgun who had fled the area and multiple other individuals have been detained for questioning, according to police.
There are no reported gunshot victims at the time, police said.
