Birmingham police are investigating a reported case of identity theft after the risk manager of a local bank told a resident on Tuesday, August 12, that his identity had been stolen.

The risk manager of the bank told Birmingham police that a man with a beard used the victim’s identity first at one of the bank’s branches in Troy, later coming to the Birmingham branch using a fake passport and social security number.

The police report does not indicate if the incidents at both branches took place on the same day.

Birmingham police say an investigation is ongoing.
