Custodian wanted for theft and retail fraud

A custodian working for a company located on the 700 block of E. Maple Avenue in Birmingham is believed to have stolen roughly $500 worth of tools on Thursday, April 11, from the office of an employee.

The woman reporting the crime said one of her tenants, a man from Royal Oak, had the tools stolen. Reportedly, the company custodian was seen cleaning offices in the building by witnesses and eventually leaving the building with the tools.

Birmingham police found out while investigating the incident that the man currently has a warrant from the Troy Police Department for retail fraud. An investigation is ongoing, according to Birmingham police.
