Day on the Town set for this Saturday
It's known as the day downtown Birmingham goes on sale. This year, Saturday, July 29, is Day On The Town, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and it's the day with the best sales and deals and most fun in the downtown area.
Be sure to visit downtown Birmingham, where you'll find deeply discounted merchandise from over 60 retailers, food trucks, live merchandise, kids' activities, chalk art displays, and lots more in stores and throughout the streets and sidewalks of downtown Birmingham.
The fun and exciting day will let you 'shop 'til you drop' for clothing, shoes and accessories of up to 70 percent off from Birmingham's finest retailers.
Food trucks serving up frozen and carnival-style treats will be available throughout the event. From 1-3 p.m., Meaghan from Mojo in the Morning and Channel 955 will broadcast live from the Channel 955 Ice Cream Truck, powered by Faygo. They will be handing out free Faygo Firework and Cotton Candy flavors and Browndog Creamery ice cream, while supplies last.
”This is a day to indulge in all of what downtown Birmingham has to offer,” said Birmingham Shopping District Executive Director Cristina Sheppard-Decius. “Get here early to find the best deals, then stay the rest of the day to participate in downtown activities or relax at one of our many bistros, outdoor patios and parks.”
Old Woodward Avenue will be closed to vehicles from Willits Street to Brown Street; Maple Road will be closed from Bates Street to Peabody Street for retail displays and pedestrian traffic.
Parking is free in municipal structures during the event. For convenient parking locations, visit ALLINBirmingham.com/park.
