A Detroit man, currently wanted under a felony warrant through the Michigan State Police for resisting an officer and fleeing, was nearly caught in Birmingham on the night of Friday, October 3, after being pulled over for running a red light.

Birmingham police reported that officers watched him drive through a red light on westbound 14 Mile Road at Eton. They were eventually able to pull him over on Cummings after he continued driving. The officers found the felony warrant while checking the man’s ID, and instead of getting out of the car when asked, the man drove off, starting a police chase. .

Birmingham police reported they ended the unsuccessful chase at Smith and Grant, notifying neighboring police departments. An investigation is ongoing, police reported.
