Downtown Birmingham ready for holidays
Downtown Birmingham will become ‘holiday central’ in the coming weeks with a number of special events scheduled that are bound to please shoppers and local residents of all ages.
The holiday event lineup begins with Small Business Saturday on November 30. Visitors to the downtown can enjoy free festivities throughout the day including Santa Walk, horse-drawn carriage rides and hot chocolate, courtesy of Hazel's from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Parking is free in structures all day.
Winter Markt returns December 6-8 in Shain Park. Birmingham's festive Winter Markt, presented by Mercedes Benz of Bloomfield Hills, features displays from local artists and vendors, European cuisine, thousands of lights, ice sculptures, live entertainment, kids' activities, Santa visits, and so much more.
Youngsters can meet the Snow Queen and Frozen Princess December 7, 12:30 -- 3:30 p.m.
Visitors can also enjoy other complimentary activities such as horse-drawn carriage rides, courtesy of Lincoln of Troy, and Marshmallow roasting, courtesy of The Surnow Company.
The Holiday Tree Lighting will be held on Friday night at 6 p.m., presented by Dan Gutfreund’s DG Realty Group.
