A new Birmingham bistro, Bloom, located at 239 N, Old Woodward, is changing its name to Besos ahead of opening its doors after city commissioners approved the change during the Monday, February 9, meeting.

The bistro’s lawyer, Kelly Allen with the firm Adkison, Need, Allen & Rentrop, said the business was pushed to change their name due to a filing error in the paperwork, allowing another business in Southfield to operate under the name Bloom. She noted that the name change to Besos, meaning kisses, has also led to a new logo design included in the meeting packet.

City planning director Nick Dupuis said that aside from the name on the paperwork, everything else about the business plans were remaining the same. With little discussion, commissioners voted unanimously, 7-0, to approve the special land use permit with the updated business name.
