Downtown business hit by fake payroll checks

A Birmingham business discovered that two fake payroll checks, totaling more than $800, were posted to its business account and the manager contacted police.

On Friday, September 8, the manager of a business in the 100 block of S. Old Woodward discovered that earlier in the month two fake payroll checks had been posted to their business checking account.

They made a fraud report with Birmingham police, and police report an investigation is ongoing.
