Driver killed in collision on Telegraph

The driver of an SUV died from injuries received on Tuesday, September 13, when his vehicle collided with a tractor-trailer while crossing northbound Telegraph, near Old Telegraph Road, Bloomfield Township police said.

Officers arrived at the scene about 9:30 p.m. to find a heavily damaged semi in the roadway and a damaged SUV in a wooded area across the street. Investigators determined the driver of the SUV attempted to cross the northbound lanes of Telegraph without yielding the right-of-way. The semi collided with the SUV on the driver’s side door, sending the SUV across the street and into the woods, said Bloomfield Township Police Lt. John Weise.

The lone occupant of the SUV was dead when officers arrived, Weise said. The driver of the semi was not injured.

Bloomfield Township police were assisted by the Bloomfield Township Fire Department and officers with the Bloomfield Hills Department of Public Safety, Sylvan Lake police, the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office and the Troy Police Department.
