Driver leaves after hitting fire hydrant

A man from Bloomfield Hills was given three citations the night of Tuesday, May 26, after he admitted to hitting a fire hydrant on northbound Old Woodward in Birmingham without reporting it.
According to the police report, officers patrolling near Old Woodward and Hamilton saw the man’s car parked in a parking lot with the hazards going off and significant damage to the car. They reported talking to the man who then admitted to hitting the fire hydrant.
Birmingham police reported that the man was cited for driving without due care and caution, failing to report an accident, and no proof of insurance.
