Driver without car license plate stopped

After speeding by a Birmingham police car on Frank Street the night of Saturday, October 17, both the driver and passenger of a car without a license plate were cited for different issues.
Birmingham police reported that the car that was driven past the patrolling officer did not have a license plate which led to the traffic stop. The driver reportedly smelled like alcohol but was found to be under the limit when he took a breathalyzer. As it turned out, the passenger had an open container in the car from which the driver had drunk.
The driver was cited for driving without a valid license, an unregistered vehicle and no proof of insurance, and the passenger was cited for possessing open intoxicants in a vehicle as a passenger.
